Day At The Beach

Got a few layers of fibreglass on top of the gaping holes of the kayak.  Thought it would be a good idea to get it in the water and see how it held up before hauling to the cottage in a couple weeks.  Also give me an excuse to sort through my fishing gear and get it prepped for the summer.

Conestogo Lake is the closest body of water to us and we decided to make it a family outing.  I was a little nervous about this location.  I'd never been to the lake but I've driven by and it looked like an absolute zoo.  And if you have a boat with a trailer, it IS a zoo.  But away from the boat launch, there's a nice picnic area with plenty of tree shade and a fun little beach on a sheltered cove.  Best of all, not crowded at all.

We had our picnic lunch and then I headed out on the water while Jen and Paige played in the sand.  It was great to be back on the water.  Tried out quite a few lures and caught exactly nothing.  But there are fish there.  I saw them.  Swimming right under my kayak.  Bastards.  I'm going to put it down as the wrong time of day.  Still great to be out there again.  Definitely coming back to this lake.

Not pretty but it worked

"Where's the beach at?"

"Daddy?  Why are there no forks?"

"Woot!  Ready for the surf!"

Contemplating her first move.

Hey, that's me not sinking!  Yay!

"But I don't wanna go!"
